Ritomune 100 Mg Tablet is an antiretroviral drug composed of 100 Mg of Ritonavir. Manufactured by Cipla Ltd, it is used with other drugs in antiretroviral therapy to treat HIV patients.



Ritomune 100 Mg Tablets are used along with other antiretroviral drugs to treat HIV infections, in a treatment called highly active antiretroviral therapy (or HAART). It is usually combined with other protease inhibitors.


How do the Ritomune 100 Mg Tablets work?

Ritomune 100 Mg Tablets consist of Ritonavir, which belongs to the class of drugs called protease inhibitors. This stops HIV viruses from replicating and multiplying by blocking their access to protease. Protease is a vital viral enzyme for the HIV virus.

This medication does not cure HIV but when taken in combination with other antiretroviral medicines, this drug can decrease HIV viral load in the body and eventually make it undetectable.

  • Nausea

Usually, the side effects go away without any treatment in particular. But if these persist or worsen, consult your doctor.

In some cases there may be severe side effects, like liver problems, pancreatitis, and irregular heartbeats.


Risks to consider

Antiretroviral Medications like the Ritomune 100 Mg Tablet can cause immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome (or IRIS) as the immune system regains its strength. This may often cause some infections to suddenly flare up, which is generally taken as a sign of recovery.

People with pre-existing heart conditions must exercise caution before taking these tablets. Let your doctor know about any such conditions.

If you have a history of liver issues, let your doctor know beforehand as this medication may potentially cause liver problems

Do not consume alcohol while taking this medication.



Take Ritomune 100 Mg Tablets as prescribed by your doctor. Do not chew, break, or crush the tablet, swallow it whole with a glass of water. This medication must be taken with food.
